WEEK 1 - Introduction of Sustainable Development

First day of SCSH 1201 class, with a great start to our discussions on SDGs.

Class Overview

Today's class is about Taaruf (introduction) among us by telling our names, kulliyah, course, hometown, describe one word about yourself and describe one word about SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals). We focused on term of Sustainable. The lecturer used various examples/facts that can relate with SD which helped illustrate these points. Also, we discuss about course outline and assignment of this subject

Personal Reflection

I found the discussion on SD are very interesting when the lecturer give various examples what happened to our surrounding because of unsustainable action like how a small action can give a big impact to our environment when the action are continuously nonstop. However, i felt a little bit confused because there are many framework or conceptual model because I am new to this kind of stuff. Overall, the class increased my understanding about facts and open my mind about sustainable development

Application of Learning

Although this is just the surface of subject, I think this knowledge can increase our awareness toward our surrounding and also our behaviour to act good in our society. Realization is the first step to change our life from bad to good habit.

Areas for Improvement

I need to read more about facts because of my lack of awareness toward surrounding or news about world. I plan to read one news a day that can be found in the internet and try to learn from that news.

Conclusion

I now have a clearer understanding of Sustainable Development, but i need to know more about 17 goals of it. By next class, i aim to solidify my understanding and try to know more about the relation between sustainable and Islam.
